What is a domain name?
A domain name is a memorable and unique address that people use to access a site. Our domain name is www.supahosts.co.uk. Domain names can also be used to receive emails at a memorable address e.g. sales@mywebsite.co.uk.
How can I find out if my domain name is available?
Go to our domain name registration section and fill in the form to check your domain.
How long does it take before my domain name is active?
Your domain name will be registered immediately, however it can take between 12 to 72 hours for a new domain name to become accessible. This is normal for domain names, no matter which registrar you use, because the domain name needs time to propagate around the entire Internet.
I already have a domain name with another company but would like to host with Supahosts. Is this possible?
Yes! We can arrange for your domain name to be re-tagged to our server.
How many years can I pre-pay for my domain to be registered for?
There is a limit to how long a domain can be pre-paid in advance for: '.com', '.net' and '.org' names can be registered and renewed for one to ten years: '.co.uk' and '.org.uk' names can only be registered and renewed for two years at a time.
Can people enter my website without using www. in front of the domain name?
Yes! With or without the www. people will arrive at the same destination. This means you can have a shorter more memorable name for your site.
Can I have multiple domain names pointing to my site?
Yes! Many of our customers have more than one domain name for their site, to improve their presence on the Internet.
